Mila Semeshkina, Founder and CEO
While pursuing her Ph.D. program at the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Mila Semeshkina realized that higher education does not provide the required practical skills for professional growth. “In the most sought-after fields, knowledge becomes obsolete faster than a student can complete their education,” she mentions. This led to the idea of an educational format that will be practical and highly effective, helping people succeed in their careers and businesses—instead of merely obtaining a degree. In response, Mila created an online educational platform based on her ‘Fast Education’ teaching method. “With Fast Education, users can study the most useful material in the shortest amount of time and immediately apply their newly acquired skills in practice as each lesson lasts around 10-15 minutes each,” she states. After developing 50 such courses, Mila decided to take the long leap to launch Lectera.com, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Operating as a Florida-based successful start-up today, Lectera.com operates globally and beyond the U.S. market. In addition to being a for-profit company, it gives back to the community by providing often free education to the most disadvantaged in order to improve many lives. Lectera.com offers almost 200 courses in English, as well as Spanish, German, Russian, and Hindi. “Primarily, courses are intended for anyone who strives to become more efficient and competitive. That is why Lectera.com covers the most sought-after fields such as sales, digital marketing, network marketing, soft skills, financial literacy, leadership, digital age professions, and female leadership,” explains Mila, the CEO, and Founder of Lectera.com.
Lectera.com is the only platform offering training in multiple foreign languages specially tailored for the international audience.
This is a very expensive process that requires maintaining high-quality educational materials across markets. The localization process requires assembling a multinational team that understands the learning approach, which is more difficult than simply hiring employees. Lectera.com has managed to gather a team of such talent and establish a process for the production of courses that is both high quality and fast. As a result, the company’s courses come with appropriate voiceovers in several languages with titles, as well as many additional materials.
Currently, the average time for the development of a course in the market is about 3.5-4 months. Owing to the time spent, the courses developed by the leading educational platforms in the space also come with a huge price tag. Mila mentions, “Lectera.com succeeded in shortening the time required to create a course in the last year. Developing a course now takes less than a month. And thus as the speed of course creation tripled, the cost of creation consequently decreased by 2.7 times. As a result, we release thousands of hours of educational videos in five languages each month,” informs Mila.

Lectera.com offers a range of free products that are popular with younger audiences looking for their first and often temporary jobs. Why? Mila explains, “No experience equals no job. Additionally, they rarely know how to sell themselves. I know hundreds of stories about how young people found their first job, successfully started freelancing or started their own businesses because of this access to free knowledge.” Further, the platform has courses designed to help mothers who have spent years raising children find new jobs. “As we are restoring self-confidence first, gaining new knowledge and selling it on the labor market, is a daunting task. There are several instances where we were able to help women find new jobs after the long maternity leave,” she mentions.
Ultimately, Lectera.com’s vision is to help people build their careers from the ground up and move up the ladder globally. The company is expanding internationally to India, South Asia, and Brazil, in addition to including nine more foreign languages to its courses next year. “The year 2022 will be even more productive and interesting for Lectera.com. Our goal is to reach 1,000,000 users and become the next unicorn in EdTech. The task isn’t easy, but we’re not scared of challenges and are ready to reach new heights,” Mila shares her plans.
